Majid Hajibeigy – Founder & CEO | Seaweed Innovation & Sustainability Leader

Majid is driven by a passion for sustainability.
Everything he builds aligns with environmental, social, and economic values.

With a degree from UBC and years of experience in food systems, he focuses on agriculture as both a major emitter and a powerful lever for climate solutions. He connects science and farming to create systems that not only sustain—but restore. For Majid, sustainability means moving beyond carbon neutrality toward models that actively reverse environmental damage.

In 2018, he founded Canadian Pacifico Seaweeds, specializing in innovative kelp production. His mission: develop seaweed-based solutions to global challenges through a for-profit conservation model—where impact and business go hand in hand.

In recognition of his leadership in regenerative food systems, Majid was named one of Corporate Knights’ “30 Under 30 Sustainability Leaders” in 2024.

Luisa Eilers – Co-Founder | Project & Communication Manager | Personal Growth Advocate

Luisa is passionate about people, purpose, and the planet.
With a background in sociology, social psychology, and business psychology, she brings a unique perspective to everything she does—from communication strategy to personal development.

Originally from Germany, Luisa spent several years working in public relations before setting off on a work-and-travel journey across Canada. That experience changed everything. In Bamfield, she met Majid and collaborated on his very first product: pickled seaweed. What started as a small idea became Canadian Pacifico Seaweeds—a company she now helps lead as Project Manager and Head of Communications.

In parallel, Luisa runs her own life coaching practice, supporting others through personal and professional transitions. Her approach combines clarity, empathy, and boldness—always with the goal of helping people live in alignment with their values.

Nikko Harris – Regenerative Solutions Through Science & Storytelling

Nikko Harris is a marine research and development specialist passionate about ocean restoration and sustainable aquaculture.
With a background in cleantech and applied ecological research, he has contributed to innovative seaweed cultivation methods and ecosystem-based solutions that support both marine biodiversity and coastal communities.

Nikko’s work focuses on ecosystem services, restoration techniques, and scalable models for regenerative aquaculture. He thrives in interdisciplinary teams, where science, sustainability, and community impact come together.

In addition to his work in environmental innovation, Nikko is also a professional actor and acting coach. He brings storytelling and creative expression into his life through film and education—bridging art and science to inspire change.

Piero Castillo – Business Development & Strategic Partnerships Leader

Piero Castillo is a business development professional specializing in strategic partnerships, market expansion, and sustainable growth initiatives.
With a strong background in building industry alliances and driving revenue growth, he has played a key role in scaling innovative businesses in the sustainability and marine sectors.

His expertise includes developing market-entry strategies, negotiating high-impact partnerships, and managing cross-functional teams to achieve long-term business goals. Piero is passionate about fostering collaborations that align profitability with environmental and social responsibility.

In recognition of his entrepreneurial impact, Piero was named one of BC Business’s “30 Under 30” in 2021.

When he’s not building business relationships, Piero enjoys exploring new markets, engaging in sustainability-driven projects, and mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs.

Marie-Lise Bruguet – Sustainable Development & Environmental Project Manager

Marie-Lise Bruguet is a sustainability communication specialist with a strong background in environmental science and strategic storytelling.
Originally from Germany, she has studied and worked in the field of sustainability, combining her deep understanding of ecological challenges with creative communication tools to make environmental topics accessible and engaging.

Marie-Lise specializes in marketing, web strategy, and storytelling for environmental initiatives. Her work focuses on crafting impactful narratives, building purpose-driven brands, and designing communication strategies that drive awareness and action for nature-based solutions.

When she’s not building websites or shaping stories, Marie-Lise supports conservation projects, collaborates with grassroots movements, and explores creative ways to bring environmental messages to life.

Jon Long – Impact Filmmaker & Story Architect for a Changing World

Jon is a seasoned media creator with over 20 years of experience in film, television, and multi-platform storytelling.
He has developed, produced, and directed content for major studios including IMAX, Universal Studios, Disney, National Geographic, PBS, and Entertainment One.

Jon’s passion lies in bridging entertainment, technology, education, and impact. He specializes in creating powerful, story-driven projects that resonate globally—such as EXTREME for IMAX®, one of the most successful documentaries of all time, and The Search for Freedom for Universal.

Many of his works are tied to educational and community-driven initiatives in collaboration with organizations like Outward Bound, PBS, and the World Wildlife Fund. Jon is dedicated to using storytelling as a tool for awareness, connection, and meaningful change.

Dr. Louis Druehl – Kelp Pioneer | Scientist | Mentor

As the founder of the continent’s first commercial kelp farm and a lifelong academic, Dr. Druehl has spent decades advancing the science and practice of kelp cultivation. Together with his wife, Rae Hopkins, he has developed innovative products and services that laid the foundation for what is now a thriving kelp industry in Canada.

Dr. Druehl’s work spans from ecological restoration to food production, with a focus on providing high-quality kelp seed for both farming and marine conservation. His research, writing, and consulting have influenced seaweed practitioners across the globe, and his guidance continues to shape the future of kelp-based solutions.

Beyond his professional legacy, Dr. Druehl is also a dedicated mentor. For many years, he has supported Majid Hajibeigy—founder of Canadian Pacifico Seaweeds—passing on his extensive knowledge of kelp ecosystems, cultivation techniques, and the values behind for-profit conservation. His mentorship has been instrumental in building CPS’s foundation and its commitment to regenerative ocean practices.

Larry Lorenz – Cleantech Executive | Fuel Efficiency & Emissions Innovation Leader

With decades of experience in business leadership and sustainable technology, Larry leads EcoEmissions—an innovation company that developed the first commercially viable, cost-effective solution to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions in industrial diesel engines.

Under his leadership, EcoEmissions has expanded its impact globally, from marine and heavy-duty vehicles in North America to large-scale trials in Asia. The patented technology uses nano-catalyst particles to optimize combustion, cutting fuel consumption by up to 20% and reducing harmful emissions by as much as 70%.

As an advisor to Canadian Pacifico Seaweeds, Larry brings strategic insight into technology scaling, clean transportation, and sustainable business development.

Dave Eto – Food Industry Leader | Strategic Advisor | Sustainability Advocate

Dave Eto is a seasoned food industry executive with over 30 years of experience in food processing, marketing, and strategic business development. As CEO of Naturally Splendid Enterprises (2016–2018), he led the company’s expansion into retail and export markets, focusing on hemp-based innovations like HempOmega™. Previously, he held leadership roles at the BC Dairy Association and Premium Brands Holdings, and served as President of the BC Food Processors’ Association, strengthening industry and government partnerships. After stepping down as CEO, he continued advising Naturally Splendid, contributing his expertise to its growth and commercialization efforts.

Will Lew is a passionate chef and culinary innovator dedicated to sustainable food practices and ocean-inspired cuisine. When he’s not in the kitchen, Will enjoys exploring food cultures, collaborating with local producers, and advocating for sustainability through food education and community events.

Fraser Riche is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience developing innovative, sustainable, and globally scalable ventures.

His career has taken him around the world, building projects that combine cutting-edge food processing technologies with a commitment to feeding the planet through safe, natural, and sustainable solutions.

With a background in product development, project finance, and creative media strategies, Fraser brings a rare blend of business acumen and visionary thinking. He is currently leading a new company focused on sustainable food innovation and serves as a board member of Global Ocean Health.

As an advisor to Canadian Pacifico Seaweeds, Fraser supports strategic development, partnerships, and the scaling of sustainable ocean-based products.

Hans-Dieter Tenhaef – Industrial Innovator | Engineering Scalable Solutions for the Blue Economy

Hans-Dieter Tenhaef is the CEO of MIT Moderne Industrietechnik, a German company known for its precision-engineered components and innovative industrial solutions.

With decades of experience in manufacturing and engineering, he has led MIT to become a trusted partner in the development of high-quality metal components such as clamps, couplings, and industrial valves.

Hans-Dieter plays a key role in shaping the future of industrial innovation—both through his leadership at MIT and his involvement on the advisory board of the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design (IEM) and the board of VDMA North Rhine-Westphalia.

As a strategic partner of Canadian Pacifico Seaweeds, MIT is co-developing automated, scalable solutions for KelpSpat seeding and cultivation—merging engineering expertise with ocean-based restoration and food production systems.
